Not receiving messages?

If you have a networked CPCC computer and a college email box and you are not receiving broadcast email messages, contact the ITS Help Desk at 5000.

If you have a computer outside the CPCC network, see Subscribing to broadcast email.

Purpose

The email broadcast service is provided as a channel for immediate employee-to-employee communications. The messages sent via email broadcast supplement the weekly Communicator newsletter, which remains the primary channel for internal communications.

How to send a message to everyone

Employees with important messages for the entire CPCC employee community may submit their messages to a special email box for distribution to all CPCC employee mail boxes within the Outlook email system and to personal mail boxes outside the college's network. See Subscribing to broadcast email below.

NOTE: If you are on a computer outside the CPCC network and submitting a message for broadcast or for the Communicator newsletter, please include your name, department, phone number, and email address.

Who may send messages to everyone

Only CPCC employees in Marketing Services and Information Technology Services are authorized to send broadcast email messages.

Mail box name

With assistance from Information Technology Services, the Office of Community Relations maintains the Outlook mail box known as "CPCC Office of Community Relations Communicator."  The table below lists the First Name and Last Name for the special mail box.

Internet address

The CPCC Office of Community Relations Communicator mail box may be addressed from outside the College email system as communicator@cpcc.edu.

Definition of advisory message

An advisory message is a message with the highest precedence, a message that an employee must read in order to perform job duties, meet College operational exigencies, or be informed about important College issues or employee benefits. An advisory message is a need-to-know message requiring an employee’s immediate attention.

Need-to-know, advisory messages relate to College operations, employee duties, employee pay or benefits (for example, scheduled or unscheduled service outages, inclement weather closings, College-wide deadlines, required training, important general meetings, payroll announcements, news about benefits, cancellations, corrections to previously published advisory messages, etc.)

How to filter for advisory messages

The Marketing Services staff administering the email broadcast service will include the word advisory in the subject area of any broadcast message that is a need-to-know message.

NOTE:  Outlook users may program their client software to filter out (that is, refuse) any message that does not contain the word advisory in the subject area. Visit the online Microsoft Outlook help system for help in filtering messages.

Replying to messages

If you feel that you must reply to a broadcast email message from the CPCC Office of Community Relations, please reply to the person whose name appears at the beginning of the message. That person is the originator of the message.

Subscribing to broadcast email

If you have a CPCC networked computer you will automatically receive broadcast email from the Office of Community Relations.

If you want to receive broadcast email messages at a personal email box not in the College's email system, you may subscribe to a special list (cpcommunicator) on a CPCC email list server.

Information about subscribing or unsubscribing to the list is at the following URL:
