Employee Benefits and Programs |

Full-time employees
are eligible to enroll or otherwise participate in the employee benefits and programs from
the first day of full-time employment. |
|
A. Information
about the following benefits may be obtained from the Human Resources Department: |

B.
Tuition Exemption for
Employees |
|
Employees are
encouraged to take advantage of the many courses available at Central Piedmont Community
College for their professional and personal development. Full-time employees are eligible
to enroll in one course per semester without payment of tuition, including any co-requisite
lab, without payment of tuition,
lab, or activity fees. The employee must pay for books
and
any other special fees
associated with a course for which tuition has been waived. An employee may take a course during his/her regular
work day only with the prior written approval of his/her
immediate administrator. Such approval is not required for a course taken during the lunch
hour.
Employees may take
"self-supporting" classes only if space is available.
Registration for self-supporting classes requires special procedures.
Requests should be made in writing using the
appropriate form and submitted to the program coordinator/chair at
least one week prior to the class start date. The program
coordinator/chair will notify the employee at least 24 hours before
the class begins if space is available.

The College has
designated parking areas to be used without cost by employees on a first-come,
first-served basis. Such lots are intended to accommodate the parking needs of employees
only and are not to be used by employees' friends or families. A detailed explanation of
parking regulations is contained in Section 6.04. |

D. Employee
Assistance Program (EAP) |
|
The EAP is designed
to help employees who may need assistance in dealing with
personal or job-related problems. Participation is voluntary, and strict confidentiality
is enforced. A
supervisor may refer employees if necessary for improvement in job
performance or the workplace. |
|
Full-time employees
receive approximately 13 or 14 paid holidays each fiscal year. |

Full-time employees
earn sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month worked. A full explanation of the sick
leave benefit is found in Section
4.17. |
|
Full-time employees
earn vacation leave as outlined in Section 4.16 |
|
H.
The College provides professional training opportunities to all
employees for improvement in job performance, personal development,
wellness, and leadership. See Section 4.29
for professional development standards. |
