Overview
The textbook requisition is the first and most important step in a series of tasks to ensure that students will have their textbooks in time for class.
NOTE: The textbook ordering process takes approximately 7 - 8 weeks.
Guidelines
Division heads and faculty members should keep the following guidelines in mind:
| Before Ordering | After Ordering |
| Honor deadlines for submitting information | Check with textbook department of the Bookstore just before each rush |
| Furnish the most accurate enrollment estimate possible | Remember late orders encounter problems |
| Make sure all data, titles, authors, editions are correct | Notify Bookstore immediately should enrollment exceed projections |
Division head role
The instructional division head:
- Receives computer-generated textbook requisition forms the first week of each term. This form lists all the courses taught in the division and the textbooks required.
- Reviews the requisition for accuracy as to text information.
- Circles courses that will be taught the upcoming term.
- Indicates the maximum number of seats (operating capacity) to be made available.
- Returns form to the Bookstore Operation Coordinator in the Bookstore as soon as possible, even though two weeks are allowed.
Supervisor of Textbook Operations
The Supervisor of Textbook Operations:
- Decides the quantity of a text to order based on such factors as
- Past selling history
- Past enrollments
- Return policies of publishers
- Price
- Whether the text is required, recommended, or supplemental
- Orders books from publishers, used books wholesalers, and the used book buy-backs from students.
- Notifies faculty as quickly as possible if there is a problem with any book order.
Books in Print
