There are several ways in which you can participate or get your students involved. Watch the Communicator for continued updates on featured speakers.
Our next guest, Dr. Tom Lombardo, chair of psychology at Rio Salado College in Arizona, will be joining us on Thursday, February 14. Dr. Lombardo has agreed to meet with both faculty and classes of students while visiting.
§ For classes and students: Dr. Lombardo’s discussion with students will focus on his belief that a student’s success doesn’t primarily depend on intelligence but moral character traits such as honesty, wisdom, responsibility, and a strong ethical compass. He also focuses through research findings and general philosophical principles on how these traits could drive the future of our society. He’ll also cover how all of this is related to self-fulfillment, personal happiness, and potential success. Seating is limited. If you would like to reserve seats for you and your students, please contact Amanda Capobianchi or Jennifer Conway in Student Life (6584).
§ For faculty and staff: If you have selected Personal Growth and Responsibility as the core competency for your class or program, or if you want to learn more about helping students develop as ethical citizens, this hands-on workshop is for you. Dr. Lombardo will facilitate an interactive workshop to provide faculty and staff with practical ideas about how to address questions of ethics, integrity, and virtue with students in regards to the college environment and the workplace. For more information on this workshop, please contact Debbie Bouton.
