Nelnet (formerly FACTS) Tuition Payment Plan will be available to students for enrollment starting July 3–20, 2008, for pre-fall registration. A minimum of $200 in tuition and fees is required. Fifty percent is due at the time of signing up, and the remaining 50% is due on August 5.
§ Maha Gingrich welcomes Dr. Mirsad Hadzikadic, dean of the College of Information Technology at UNC Charlotte, to Charlotte, A City of International Success. The show airs until August 5. Did You Know?
Office Depot and CPCC Procurement have initiated a new program for recognition of our P-Card holders’ dedication to purchasing recycled goods from the office supply contract #615A.
To kick off the quarterly awards beginning July-September, 2008, we are happy to announce the 200708 big fiscal year winner, Shawn Sinclair, Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs , who purchased a total of $5,657.32 in recycled goods. Shawn wins a new Fellowes confetti-style document shredder valued at $89.99 for those efforts, compliments of our representative Scot Gelinas. Other top purchasers were Phayvanh Settharath, Nicki Brooks, Monica McCall, and Susan Moore.
Procurement encourages all faculty and staff to purchase recycled content goods whenever possible to meet the College and state goals and policies and to be environmentally conscious. CPCC purchased a total of $54,458 in recycled products from Office Depot; their 2008 catalog (out soon) will have many more recycled content products.
All state contracts with recycled content may be referenced at http://www.doa.state.nc.us/PandC/recycled.htm (check them out; you might be surprised at products you can buy).

Administrative Secretary Senior, Position #3CENTDN-FNC-6, REQ. #385. Administrative secretary senior position available in the dean’s office on Central Campus. Provides support to Central Campus associate deans, director of Central Campus Administration and ArtsFest coordinator. Responsibilities of the position include a variety of standard clerical and administrative tasks including, but not limited to, information into computer systems, reconciling budgets, and typing filing in support of campus operations. Applicant must possess excellent customer service skills and be experienced with Datatel/Colleague and Microsoft Office products. Requires basic knowledge in a specific area obtained through business or vocational training beyond high school in secretarial skills and one year of office experience. Closing Date: July 19, 2008.
Instructional Developer I, Position #3COWWOE-FEP-3, REQ. # 371. Instructional developer I position available in ELearning Department located on Central Campus. Major responsibilities of this position includes the following: work with faculty and staff to identify development needs and provide guidance in instructional design, provide training to faculty and staff currently using any LMS the college selects, provide technology training to instructors, handle webcasts and teleconferences at assigned campuses, keep current with new software products that will enhance online instruction, maintain quality control of online courses by assisting instructors, work with other developers to provide team presentations to large campus groups. Associate’s degree and two years of experience developing with and/or support computers, software applications and internet technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Candidate must be a team player; be creative and have good communication skills. Closing Date: July 19, 2008.
Internal & External Position(s)
Program Assistant, Position #3OEINSW-FNC-1, REQ. #368. Program assistant position available with Construction Institute on Harper Campus. Provides support to programs, assists and interface with marketing, provide customer service, interact with trainers and instructors and perform other duties as assigned. High school diploma or GED and completion of 36 semester units of college-level coursework from an accredited institution; or a high school diploma or GED and two years of full-time work experience in an administrative or administrative support role; or a combination of education and work experience as stated totaling two years; associate’s degree preferred. Should have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be PC literate including Microsoft Word, Excel database. Experience with Datatel/Colleague systems and experience in education will be a definite plus. Closing Date: July 19, 2008.
§ Jeannie Malcolm, Rosemary Schmid, and Karen Stanley, Foreign Languages and Academic ESL, successfully completed training and qualifying tests to become official examiners for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), an internationally recognized and administered test of English language proficiency.
The
Harris Conference Center has recently published a list of its current Green Initiatives in an effort to achieve more energy efficient and sustainable business practices. Current HCC green endeavors include reduce, reuse, and recycling principles for basic items such as paper, water, and electricity. A complete list of initiatives will soon be posted on the
