Basic Skills intake hours

The Basic Skills Intake office serves as the first information source for students who wish to enter CPCC's Basic Skills programs (Adult High School, GED, English as Second Language). Its days and hours are:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from  9:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.

Wednesday from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

Peak registration volunteers needed

This is the time of year we ask for campus-wide assistance with peak registration. It’s a wonderful opportunity to assist students as they transition or return to college.

These days are particularly busy for the college.

Monday, July 21
Payment due date.

This is a high traffic day because students anticipate class seats to be open after the deregistration.

Our last peak registration days were July 7 and 8. There were approximately 25 volunteers. In continuing our celebration for peak registration efforts, congratulations to Jennifer Conway for being the recipient of a Dunkin Donuts gift card. Congratulations, Jennifer!

Library hours during break

During the current break, the CPCC Libraries will operate on an adjusted schedule.

Beginning Wednesday, July 16, through Sunday, August 17, the Central Campus library will be open Monday–Friday from 7:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. All other campus libraries are closed.

All libraries will resume regularly scheduled hours for the fall semester beginning Monday, August 18.

Library reserve policy reminder

Faculty, as you begin preparing your course reading lists for the upcoming fall semester, we ask that you keep the following library reserves policy and procedures for reserve materials in mind:

§ Maha Gingrich welcomes Dr. Mirsad Hadzikadic, dean of the College of Information Technology at UNC Charlotte, to Charlotte, A City of International Success. Bicycles, America’s challenge

They're also a great way to get fit, get around or simply get away from it all—not to mention one of the best ways to save on fuel. Internal position(s)

Assistant Director Campus Security-Central Campus, Position #2SECURE-FEA-3, REQ #379. This position is responsible for management of all aspects of security operations at assigned campus. Security operations include responding to criminal incidents, emergency medical incidents, hazardous incidents, potentially violent incidents, auto accidents, and others. Position works with the campus dean, campus administrative director, and campus ESS director to ensure that situations are appropriately addressed and expectations for security and personal safety are achieved. Duties include planning, supervising, and coordinating security operations on a 24-hour basis, investigating and reporting on all security issues to the College’s Director of Security and Associate Vice President for Facilities, leading and participating in the provision of security services such as supervising, monitoring, training and assessing the performance of contract security staff. Minimum qualifications: A.) high school diploma or GED; and B.) minimum of three years of law enforcement or security experience; and C.) ability to obtain a valid N.C. driver’s license if hired for this position. Closing Date: July 20, 2008.

Internal & external position(s)

Inventory Control Assistant, Position #2INVCON-FNC-3, REQ. #393. Inventory control assistant position available in the Inventory Control Department located on Central Campus. Performs a variety of clerical tasks including processing changes in equipment status and maintaining records associated with conducting inventory of all property and equipment. Requires a high school diploma or GED, six months of inventory control experience and a valid N.C. or S.C. driver’s license (or ability to obtain license upon hire). Knowledge of inventory procedures; standard office equipment and procedures; basic computer skills and especially Microsoft Excel and Word is desirable. Closing Date: Open until filled.

Dean, Library Services, Position #3LIBRSV-FEA-2, REQ. 304. Dean, Library Services position available in Library Services located on Central Campus. The dean of Library Services will focus on creating a vision for the CPCC libraries and inspire library employees to achieve that vision through insightful leadership, creative problem solving, and energetic management. The position seeks to provide the best possible service in the following areas; support of student, faculty, and staff in information literacy, reference and instruction, management of print and electronic collections, information delivery, and both traditional and innovative library services as part of the Learning Unit of the College. This position supervises the operation of a library network at six CPCC campuses along with a law library by developing short-term and long-term plans, setting operation policies, an effectively managing the budget to support those plans and policies; manages a staff of professionals, support staff, and part-time employees directly or through coordination of supervisors; assures Library Services contributes appropriately to the goals of the College and the Learning Unit, that Library Services keeps abreast of advancements in library and information matters and Library Services is in the forefront of best practices in delivering services both on campus and online. Master’s degree in library sciences from an ALA-accredited college or university; three years’ experience in an academic library and five years’ management experience to include performance evaluation and budget administration. Crazy for You
July 18–26

Crazy for You is the Tony Award winning musical that tells the story of Bobby Child, a well-to-do 1930's playboy whose dream in life is to dance.
