Information table volunteers needed

Information tables are being organized at all campuses in preparation for the new academic year. We are always appreciative of the many staff and faculty who have regularly volunteered their time during the first confusing days of classes to assist our new students—showing them to the correct classroom, finding their class schedule, and answering numerous questions. We appreciate your help in the past, and look forward to your volunteering again!

If you would like to volunteer some of your time to assist with information tables, please contact the appropriate person below:

Lifelong Learning Institute survey

The CPCC Lifelong Learning Institute (LLI) helps adults in their mid-40s to early 60s as they transition to new careers, explore new interests and tackle new life challenges. Using a collaborative model of working across the College, the institute will offer guidance, resources and courses (both career-focused and lifestyle oriented) to help individuals find pathways toward achieving their goals for midlife and beyond.

To establish and to better define the LLI, as well as to promote the College programs and services to this market (generally, adults aged 44-62), the LLI is planning to launch a magazine-style publication that will feature our students and the many programs and instructors who serve them.

We’d like your ideas and input on the name of this magazine. Use the link posted below to take a short survey to evaluate some suggested choices and capture your ideas and thoughts.

Thanks for participating (link opens in new window)! http://www.zoomerang.com/Survey/?p=WEB2282KVYB3X4

We also welcome your overall thoughts and suggestions about the Lifelong Learning Institute. To comment or to learn more proposed magazine, please contact Lori Day, executive director, at 6776. With programming topics or ideas, you may also contact Ruth Huey, director, at 4298.

Good ambassadors

§ To Laura Dunlap, ITS, from Marcia Lambert, manager of the Buddy Kemp Caring House:

“On behalf of Presbyterian Hospital and the Buddy Kemp Caring House I would like to thank you and the entire team who raised funds this year for our program. It is truly wonderful that all of you in the Classified Staff area are committed to supporting the services we provide for cancer patients and their families.

“The diagnosis of cancer is challenging, both financially as well as emotionally. Your gift to us will be used directly to help the clients who come through our doors at the Buddy Kemp Caring House.

“Please convey to the CPCC participants our sincere gratitude for making the 2008 fund drive a success! We have ordered a special plaque which will be displayed on our donor wall.”

On July 23 the Harris Conference Center, along with President Dr. Tony Zeiss and Executive Vice President Dr. Kathy Drumm, hosted Guilford Technical Community College for an in-depth site tour. Guilford is considering the development of a conference center similar to the structure and design of our own Harris Conference Center. The tour was focused on the audience that the conference center draws, details of the facility structure, and how the operations work. For more information on GTCC, please visit www.gtcc.edu.
