Educational Leave:
Policy 4.23 in the CPCC Policies and Procedures Manual outlines the necessary

educational leave with pay and educational leave without pay. However, policy
4.23 is being revised. Changes will be forthcoming.

Return to School:
Full-time employees at CPCC may apply for return to school funds. The amount of
funding available varies from year to year. Please refer to the websites below
for specifics about the application process. A recent revision in the “return
to school” procedures limits applicants to full-time employees who have been
employed with the college for one full year.

Other Potential Sources:
CPCC employees interested in pursuing an Associate Degree at CPCC may
want to consider applying for the Levine Scholarship. Applications are available
from Debbie Bouton (6796). Applicants must meet the income eligibility
guidelines. Awards are $500.00 per semester for a maximum of 6 semesters.
When funds are available, the North Carolina Community College System offers
Baccalaureate Education Program Funding. The program provides assistance to
faculty to obtain a Baccalaureate degree. During the 04-05 academic year,
scholarships up to $3,000 were awarded to approved participants. Approved
full-time faculty will be reimbursed for tuition, books, labs, and mandatory
fees from accredited institutions. Please check with Diann Back about possible
funding for the 05-06 academic year.
Library Services:
All CPCC library databases are accessible from off-campus using the employee
username and password. CPCC faculty and staff are eligible for a CAEC (Charlotte
Area Educational Consortium) borrower’s card. This card entitles the borrower
checkout privileges at Charlotte area college and university libraries. Get one
at any of the CPCC campus libraries.
CPCC library provides inter-library loan services. Materials can be borrowed
from libraries across the country. A request form is available on the library
website. Librarians are available for one-on-one research sessions to suggest
search strategies, review databases, etc.
For assistance, call 6884 or click on the Ask a Librarian link at
www.cpcc.edu/library. The library’s
website also provides a link to NCKnows, a state-wide 24 hour/day, 7 day/week
online reference librarian service.
Accreditation:
All of the funding resources listed above apply only to accredited colleges and
universities. If you have any questions about the accreditation status of the
school you are considering, please contact Debbie Bouton (6796).
