Issues and Suggestions

ONLINE SERVICES
Description Status/Suggestion
Online services are not available from 3AM - 7:30AM during weekdays for backups and maintenance. It is also not available during 5PM - 8PM during Friday evenings for Datatel patch upgrades. AIS is working on communication.
SNAP
Description Status/Suggestion
The Question/Answer pair is perceived to be unimportant, and therefore students are entering junk and therefore not remembering the answers. This is causing students a challenge to change their password since they cannot correctly answer the questions. AIS will re-evaluate the information provided on the application.
A tool was provided to the Help Desk to reset the Q/A pair, thus allowing the user to reset the information using their SSN and birthdate.
After the initial failure of answering the Question/Answer pair, the questions will randomly select 2 of the 3 questions again. Some students are not realizing that the question had changed, and therefore provide an incorrect answer. AIS is seeking a way to make this clearer.
TELEPHONE REGISTRATION
Description Status/Suggestion
The phone code in the printed schedule does not match exactly with the codes for Telephone Registration. Datatel requires a 5 digit code whereas the printed schedule has a 4 digit code. The correct phone codes is the code found in the printed schedule with a leading zero. Telephone registration and the appropriate websites were updated to provide this information. Students can also check WebAdvisor for the correct phone codes (synonym).
Phone codes may be duplicated between terms. Therefore, it is important that students make certain they selected the correct term. This is information only. This is true in the mainframe as well.
Confusion as to the term "synonym". Telephone registration and the website have been updated to include both terms. AIS is seeking to enhance WebAdvisor to display "Phone Code" alongside Synonym.
Provide explanation if anyone asks until enhancements have been made.
WEBADVISOR
Description Status/Suggestion
Fully online classes have their meeting information set as "08/15/2006-12/11/2006 Classroom Hours Days to be Announced, Times to be Announced Online Course Identification, Room LINE 08/15/2006-12/11/2006 Lab/Shop Hours Days to be Announced, Times to be Announced Online Course Identification, Room LINE". This is a limitation with this product. AIS and Registration are seeking ways to overcome this.
This is not a major problem other than possibly confusing students into believing there is a specific time and/or location.
When students are informed and/or directed to pay online, they are having problems finding the location to make the payment. WebAdvisor requires a session cookie, and therefore requires the students to enter from the main page of WebAdvisor. However, students misses the "Login" button and therefore does not find the "Make A Payment" link. AIS is seeking a way to possibly enhance WebAdvisor to avoid this confusion.
If a student has attended several classes, then they may have the Program Evaluation application (Degree Audit) timeout. They will be presented a blank screen with just a button for "OK". AIS is working to address this issue.
Students can refresh their browser and it will provide the information (the information seems to be cached, and seem to timeout at the point of displaying the html).

During registration, students can be confused with the term "Preferred Registration." Preferred Registration is only a shopping cart of potential classes the students can register for. Students must still take action on this screen to properly register. AIS is working to enhance this screen with a proper description to help avoid this confusion.

PIG-PEN Info

The PIG PEN has been developed as a Command Center for the Implementation and Support of the Datatel Student Implementation. This command center will not only provide support internally to the college, but also to our Help Desk and Call Center. It will be strategically located in TE112 on Central Campus to be physically located near the Help Desk and Call Center. Primary communications will be provided from the PIG PEN while we are live with Datatel for the first two weeks.

We ask that all employees follow normal process of contacting the Help Desk (x5000) for technical support, and the individual departments for support related to their areas.

Meets every Thursday from June 1 thru July 6, 9:00am-10:00am 
Meets every weekday from July 10 thru July 21, 8:00am-5:00pm
