PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT  Advisory Committee Guidelines for Allocation of Funds

Purpose: The Professional Development Advisory Committee is composed of faculty and staff members of Central Piedmont Community College. This committee meets on a monthly basis to decide on the allocations for funding professional development and educational activities for employees of the college. All employees will have the opportunity to further their education or attend conferences and workshops to enhance their personal and professional development. Central Piedmont Community College is committed to increasing the education of not only the students, but for the employees as well. This commitment was derived from the strategic goals of the college, which state, "implement an effective professional development program based upon a redesigned performance appraisal system." Our guiding principle is to be fair and honest, recognizing that all employees deserve and will be given equal consideration for professional development funding.

Guidelines Funding Priorities Tier-A: (Conferences and Workshops)

• First time applicants for professional development funds will be priority one.
• Applicants in need of training or classes that require certification for their work at CPCC.
• Training and Conferences must be related to current jobs at CPCC.
• Applicants that are presenting at a conference or workshop, members of panel, or an officer of the sponsoring organization will be given priority.
• Priority consideration will be given to applications that are supported by funds from the employees department or other source.
• Education or professionally related conferences should be related to the mission statement of the college.
• All proposals for funding will be considered in the order in which they were received.

Guidelines Funding Priorities CPCC Foundation: (Return to School)

• First time applicants will be priority one.
• Employees applying for CPCC Foundation funding must be full-time or part-time employees of the college:

1. Full-time
2. Permanent part-time
3. Other part-time

• If the applicant receives other financial aid (scholarships, grants, tuition waivers, etc.) Foundation funds shall only be used to cover shortfalls of the outside funding.
• Employees who are enrolled in programs pursing academic degrees must receive:

1. Grades of A-C for Bachelors of Arts or Science Programs
2. Grades of A-B for Masters and Doctoral Programs

• All eligible applicants re-applying for funding must submit an updated schedule of enrolled classes
• Any activity funded by the committee must be related to your current position at CPCC and or the mission of the college.
